option to the nsthdinstall command, you can install the
NST to a hard disk partition using the uncompressed
ISO image you download from
SourceForge.
Paul uses this method to create CDROMless NST probes. By creating 4 disk partitions (two for NST installations, one for swap space and the remainder for shared disk space), he is able to download new NST ISO image files onto his large shared disk space, and install the latest version into the non-booted NST partition. He then reboots his system and comes up with the latest version of the NST install. When the next version is released, he repeats the process but installs to the other NST partition. This allows him to preserve his customizations (and SQL databases) while remaining current with the latest NST release. Using this method, he does not need to leave the USB CDROM drive attached to the system (or burn CDROMs for that matter) after his initial installation.
