By default audio output is disabled on a NST Virtual Machine when it is booted. The audio modules are not automatically inserted into the Kernal at boot time. The NST WUI management interface has a page to help the process of installing the appropriate audio loadable driver modules. One can also adjust audio levels and play a sound for testing purposes.
Use the following steps to enable audio output on a NST Virtual Machine using the NST WUI management interface:
Navigate to the Audio configuration page: (System => Configuration => Audio)
Click on the "Enable Audio Output" button and follow the audio enable process navigation flow to reach to the "Test/Adjust Audio Levels" page.
Adjust both the "Volume" and "PCM (Pulse-Code Modulation) Volume" for your particular system. Use the "Test Audio Output" button for assistance when adjusting levels.
One may also need to adjust the VMware Player host system volume controls to achieve the desired audio volume level.
