The easiest way to bring up X is by using the lx command. This will start the X font server (if it isn't already running), and then run the system-config-display command if you haven't yet configured your X settings. Best of all, when the lx command is used in conjunction with lnstcustom, it will save and restore your X configuration files to your storage device. This will allow you to to skip the configuration step in future invocations.
The lx command requires a single parameter which will be used to name your X configuration. You can use any name you want - just pick something that you will be able to associate with your system. For example, I use: "lx mole" on my old Sager laptop.
